Although there are guidebooks that specify types of flowers
over colors, color recognition is the most direct way to identify the
extensive variety of wildflowers.
A quote from the Peterson Field Guides Wildflowers:
“White or Whitish Flowers - This is the largest category, but not always
a clear-cut one. Some white or whitish flowers may be tinged with the
faintest suggestion of yellow, pink, or greenish which may be ignored.
Others may have such a strong tinge that they may be repeated under
one or another of those colors“
